Presentation Title: What will disrupt the mining industry?
We are currently living in a period that has the fastest rate of change in living memory, the only times that have changed as rapidly was when the 0 was invented in mathematics and the Renaissance. This rate of change is affecting all of our daily lives and creating expectations that are both positive and negative. There are a number of technologies that are converging blockchain, communications, robotics, AI, automation, nanotechnology, 3D printing, solar energy, gene slicing to name but a few; and there are some social forces that are impacting the mining industry such as environmental concerns, lack of water, too much water, community and employee expectation, de-globalization, change in dynamics of the major economies…..The convergence of the technology changes, the societal expectation changes and the social forces are set to create a perfect storm for the mining industry and will change it forever in very fundamental ways….our role of leaders is to understand it, embrace it and prepare our teams and businesses to be successful in this new world.
